A display platform rotates about a central pivot. A person initially pushes a handle near the edge of the platform at right angles to the line joining the handle to the pivot. Without changing the size of the force or where it is applied, the person then pushes directly towards the pivot. What happens to the moment of the force about the pivot?
It increases, because the force is now directed towards the pivot
It decreases but is not zero, because the handle remains at a distance from the pivot
It reverses direction, because the force now points towards the centre of the platform
It becomes zero, because the line of action of the force now passes through the pivot
