A rubber block is attached between two vertical, parallel plates on opposite sides of the block. The left plate pulls the block horizontally to the left with a force of 15 N. The right plate pulls the block horizontally to the right with a force of 15 N. The block remains stationary.
The direction of both forces is reversed, but the size of each force remains 15 N. Explain what happens to the motion and shape of the block.
With the forces still reversed, the right plate is removed. The left plate continues to exert its 15 N force on the block. Give the change in motion of the block.
