Current in a circuit

Electric current is the rate of flow of electric charge. A larger current means that more charge passes a point each second.

In circuit diagrams, conventional current is shown flowing from the positive terminal of a cell or battery towards the negative terminal. This is opposite to the direction of electron flow.
