The rounding rule

Number lines showing 7642 below 7650 so it rounds to 7600, and 8.36 above 8.35 so it rounds to 8.4

Rounding changes a number to a nearby, simpler value. The place value tells you which digit matters, so in 751875187518 the 555 is the hundreds digit. You only change the number at the place value named in the question.
