Photograph A shows an informal settlement situated along a polluted, narrow canal; dwellings are built densely out of corrugated metal sheets, bamboo poles, and scrap materials, with visible piles of uncollected plastic waste and rubbish on the dirt banks. Photograph B shows a highly congested street choked with hundreds of manual cycle-rickshaws, pedestrians, and hand-pulled carts carrying goods, underneath a chaotic, low-hanging web of exposed electrical power lines and telecommunication cables on worn concrete poles.
