Bristol is aiming to become a carbon-neutral city by 2030.
They have implemented several schemes:
- Biogas bus fleet: Over 120 double-decker buses powered by biomethane produced from food waste and sewage.
- City Leap Energy Partnership: A £424 million joint venture to install district heat networks delivering low-carbon heat to inner-city homes and businesses.
- Electric Vehicle (EV) expansion: Over 200 public rapid chargers installed across park-and-ride sites and residential streets.
- Active travel infrastructure: 15 km of newly segregated cycle lanes and a fleet of e-cargo bikes available for local business deliveries.
- Community solar energy: Installing solar PV arrays on schools, council homes, and community centres.
