A River Catchment Quality Survey (RCQS) was conducted at three different sites along the River Don to assess its ecological and morphological health. Fieldwork ratings for each indicator range from -3 (heavily degraded / artificial) to +3 (highly natural / pristine).
Table 1: River Catchment Quality Survey (RCQS) Results
| Site | Channel Naturalness | Bank Stability | Water Clarity | Invertebrate Biodiversity | Total Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Site 1 (Sprotbrough Weir) | +1 | 0 | +2 | +1 | +4 |
| Site 2 (Nursery Street, Sheffield) | -3 | -2 | -1 | -2 | -8 |
| Site 3 (Firsby Reservoir Tributary) | +3 | +2 | +1 | +2 | +8 |
