Characteristics of the two areas

  • Unregenerated canal path: Abandoned warehouses, overgrown towpaths, disused locks, scrap metal yard, fly-tipping sites, brick walls with graffiti.
  • Regenerated waterfront: Pedestrianised plazas, cafes and restaurants, modern apartments, sailing marina, public art installations, tourist information centre.
