The yellow record sleeve

Text 1: Eleven Pounds Forty, by Nathan Ellery

An original short story extract.

The record was in the third crate, between a scratched brass band album and something called Learn Spanish in Ten Days. Ezra saw the yellow sleeve and stopped breathing. He slid it out with two fingers, the way you would handle a butterfly, and held it against his chest. ‘How much?’ he asked, trying to sound as if he did not care. The stallholder, a woman in a knitted hat, looked at him over her glasses. ‘Fifteen.’ Ezra had eleven pounds and forty pence. He counted it twice on the edge of the crate, his hands shaking slightly. He offered her ten. She said fourteen. He said eleven and forty, and turned out his pockets to prove it, a bus ticket and a button falling on the pavement. She sighed, and took the coins. He walked away holding the sleeve with both hands, not daring to look back in case she changed her mind.

Give three words or phrases that show Ezra badly wants the record.
