The museum asked visitors what they thought an old metal frame had been used for. Most called it a bed. Its size encouraged that guess, and the curved ends looked familiar. Only after visitors had written their answers did the guide reveal the caption: the frame had supported trays in a bakery. We were allowed to change our guesses. The exercise showed how quickly a familiar shape can supply an explanation before the evidence has been checked.
Give one phrase that identifies what the metal frame actually supported.
