Text 1: A difficult week at the allotments, by Carys Morgan
An original contemporary blog.
Our group had planned to water the new seedlings on Wednesday evening, but the allotment tap had stopped working. We filled two watering cans at the community centre and carried them back, but it took so long that we could only water half the beds before dark. By Saturday, several of the youngest plants had wilted. We had also expected to use the small shed to store our tools, but a leak had soaked the handles and the labels we had made for the seed trays. We spent the first part of the morning drying everything instead of planting.
Text 2: Storm damage at the community garden, by Rhys Bennett
An original contemporary local newspaper report.
Volunteers at Penrhos community garden had to change their plans after strong winds damaged the polytunnel on Thursday night. Two panels had torn loose, leaving the seedlings inside exposed to the rain. The group moved the trays into the village hall, but there was not enough room for all of them. Work on the new herb beds was postponed while volunteers cleared broken branches from the path. Organiser Megan Lewis said the group hoped to finish the beds the following week.
