Question 21

Save the sign on the wall

In this question you will be assessed for the quality of your writing skills. 12 marks are awarded for communication and organisation; 8 marks are awarded for vocabulary, sentence structure, spelling and punctuation.

You should aim to write about 300 to 400 words.

The gable wall at the end of your street carries a faded painted advertisement that is over a hundred years old. The wall now needs repairing, and the owner of the end house plans to cover it with render unless the residents’ association pays towards having the sign professionally conserved first. You have been asked to speak at the association’s meeting.

Write what you would say in your talk.
