In this question you will be assessed for the quality of your writing skills. 12 marks are awarded for communication and organisation; 8 marks are awarded for vocabulary, sentence structure, spelling and punctuation.

The following comment from a local councillor appeared in your local newspaper:
‘The six-week summer holiday is outdated. Students forget much of what they have learnt, and working parents struggle to find childcare. Schools in this area should cut the summer break to four weeks and add the extra time to other holidays.’
