A new bus announcement

Text: an original contemporary personal account-style practice extract.

I noticed that the bus announcements now named the next stop before we reached it. That helped me press the bell in time instead of watching every shopfront. I also appreciated hearing the name aloud when condensation obscured the window. The driver still answered questions from passengers, but I no longer needed to ask whether we had passed my stop. On one journey the recording was too quiet, and I told the operator afterwards. The system was useful enough that I noticed immediately when it failed to be audible.

From the extract, give two ways the stop announcements helped the writer.
