The crowded entrance
Text: an original contemporary personal account-style practice extract.
At the community workshop, wet coats had been piling up beside the main entrance. By the time the evening class began, people were stepping around them to get inside. No one had put the problem on the meeting agenda, but it kept interrupting the discussion.
Before we left, Moira asked which doorway needed to stay clear. She suggested moving the coat rail to the side entrance and checking how well that worked after the next class. Her idea won me over because she had noticed that keeping the main doorway clear mattered to everyone coming in. It also gave us a practical way to see whether the new arrangement worked before settling on it.
From the paragraph beginning “Before we left”, give two reasons why Moira’s idea won the writer over.
