A different use for the street

A neighbourhood meeting will vote on a proposal to close one residential street to through traffic for a few hours on one Saturday each month. During this time, the street would be used for free activities and opportunities for residents to meet.

Write the text of the speech you would deliver before the vote.

Persuade residents that the proposal should be tested for three months. Consider how the arrangement might affect people differently, and show how disruption, access and responsibility could be managed.
