Question 17

In a professional diving competition, a diver's score for a single dive is determined by seven independent judges. Each judge awards a score between 0.0 and 10.0 inclusive.

To calculate the final score for the dive:

  1. The single highest and single lowest judges' scores are discarded.
  2. The sum of the remaining five scores is calculated.
  3. This sum is multiplied by the dive's degree of difficulty, and then multiplied by a scaling factor of 0.6 to obtain the final score.

Construct an algorithm to calculate and output the final score for one dive.

  • Write your algorithm using pseudocode or a programming language you know.
  • Assume the seven scores are stored in an array named scores (indexed from 0 to 6).
  • Assume the real variable difficultyDegree already holds the degree of difficulty value.
