The three states

Particle arrangement in solids, liquids and gases: solid particles are closely packed in a regular arrangement, liquid particles are close together but irregular, and gas particles are far apart and random.

Matter can exist as a solid, liquid or gas. The particle model explains each state using the particles' arrangement, separation, movement and energy.
