What is the structure of an ionic compound?
A giant ionic lattice - a regular, repeating three-dimensional arrangement of positive and negative ions.
It is one giant ionic lattice, not a collection of separate molecules.
Attraction between oppositely charged ions acts in all directions throughout the lattice.
It does not show the true ion sizes or the full three-dimensional lattice.
