Black rhinos are hunted illegally for their horns.
In one reserve, conservationists started to remove the horns of the rhinos in 2012. This is called dehorning. A horn grows back about 2 years after it is removed.
The Table shows information about the rhinos in the reserve.
Table
| Year | Number of rhinos at the start of the year | Number of rhinos killed by poachers during the year |
|---|---|---|
| 2010 | 220 | 18 |
| 2011 | 214 | 22 |
| 2012 | 205 | 20 |
| 2013 | 196 | 9 |
| 2014 | 200 | 5 |
| 2015 | 206 | 4 |
