From gene to phenotype

From gene to phenotype

A genetic variant is a difference in a DNA base sequence. A coding variant may change the base sequence transcribed into a pre-messenger RNA molecule. The pre-messenger RNA is processed to form mature messenger RNA, written mRNA\mathrm{mRNA}mRNA, which is translated by a ribosome into an amino acid sequence.
