The nervous system

The nervous system detects stimuli and coordinates responses using electrical impulses carried by neurones. It has two main parts: the central nervous system (CNS), made of the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system, made of nerves connecting the CNS to the rest of the body.
