What is denaturation?
Denaturation is a change in an enzyme's three-dimensional structure that causes it to lose its function. It can be caused by high temperature or an extreme pH. In school-level examples, strong heating such as boiling usually causes effectively irreversible denaturation, although denaturation can sometimes be reversible.
