A student investigated the effect of the direction of light on the growth of cress seedlings.

This is the student's method.

  • Put damp cotton wool into each of three Petri dishes.
  • Scatter 10 cress seeds onto the cotton wool in each dish.
  • Put each dish inside a cardboard box. Box A has a hole cut in one side, box B has a hole cut in the top and box C has no hole.
  • Leave the three boxes in the same warm room for 4 days.
