Cells in the lining of the stomach can become worn out and be replaced by mitosis. One cell begins the cell cycle, but its DNA is not copied during the first stage. The cell then proceeds through mitosis and division of the cytoplasm.
Explain why this process would not produce two normal replacement cells.
