Maternal Deprivation vs Privation

When John Bowlby formulated his Maternal Deprivation Hypothesis, he argued that breaking the maternal bond early in life causes permanent damage. However, later psychologists noticed a critical flaw: Bowlby failed to distinguish between losing a bond that had already been formed, and never having the chance to form a bond at all.
