Forces, resultants and Newton's laws
A force is a vector, so both size and direction matter. The resultant force is the single force that has the same effect as all the forces acting together, and force is measured in newtons with 1 N=1 kg m s−21 \, \text{N} = 1 \, \text{kg m s}^{-2}1N=1kg m s−2.
