Circles

State the formula for the distance between points (x1,y1)(x_1, y_1)(x1,y1) and (x2,y2)(x_2, y_2)(x2,y2).

A

To find the centre and radius from x2+y2−6x+4y−13=0x^2+y^2-6x+4y-13=0x2+y2−6x+4y−13=0, you must complete the square to reach the form (x−3)2+(y+2)2=26(x-3)^2+(y+2)^2=26(x−3)2+(y+2)2=26.

B
(x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2 \sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2} (x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2
C
(x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2 (x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2 (x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2
D
∣ax1+by1+c∣a2+b2 \frac{|ax_1+by_1+c|}{\sqrt{a^2+b^2}} a2+b2∣ax1+by1+c∣
