Workplace Reflection

"As a software developer with a first-class honours degree, logical problem-solving comes naturally to me, but team meetings are incredibly draining. During a project retrospective yesterday, my colleague narrowed her eyes and slightly raised her brow. Because her spoken report was positive, I assumed she was happy, but my team lead later told me she was clearly feeling anxious and overwhelmed. I find it nearly impossible to decode these subtle expressions around the eyes, despite my high academic capability. I rely entirely on direct, explicit instructions."

Describe Baron-Cohen et al.'s (1997) study into autism in adults (the 'Reading the Mind in the Eyes' test) and explain how its findings relate to the software developer's experiences described above.
