Question 157

An increasing number of competitive esports athletes report experiencing 'gaming burnout'—a state of physical and emotional exhaustion. Despite the rapid growth of the industry, we know very little about how players experience and manage this burnout. What role does the environment of a shared 'team house' play? How do athletes cope with sudden performance drops during live tournaments? Does public criticism on streaming platforms worsen their anxiety? There is much we do not know. To investigate further, researchers want to use a self-report method to explore the lived experiences of esports athletes experiencing burnout.

Briefly outline how you could use a semi-structured interview for this study.
