Question 119

Research Scenario: Flow State in Esports Players

Flow state—often described as being "in the zone"—is a psychological state of deep focus and optimal performance. While esports players frequently report entering flow states during competitive gaming, little is known about what triggers or disrupts this state during high-stakes tournaments. Does the pressure of a live audience affect their focus? Do team communications enhance or disrupt their sense of control? To investigate further, researchers want to use the self-report method to explore professional esports players' subjective experiences of flow state.

Explain one strength and one weakness of using the self-report method in this study.
