An environmental psychologist investigated whether the design of university hall kitchens affects students' self-reported sense of social connectedness. They used a repeated measures design where participants lived in two different residence wings for two weeks each.
During the second week in each condition, participants rated their weekly sense of social connectedness on a scale of 1 ('completely isolated') to 15 ('highly connected').
