Green spaces in the workplace

An environmental psychologist investigated whether the presence of indoor office plants affects self-reported relaxation. They used a repeated measures design experiment where participants spent 1 hour working in an office workspace under two different conditions.

  • Condition A: Workstation with no plants.
  • Condition B: Workstation with many plants.

First, participants completed their tasks in Condition A. A week later, the same participants completed equivalent tasks in Condition B. On each occasion, participants were asked to rate how relaxed they felt on a scale of 1 ('not at all relaxed') to 10 ('extremely relaxed').
