A university campus cafeteria wanted to increase recycling compliance among its patrons. A researcher designed an observational study during lunchtime rushes. Two identical recycling bins were placed in the cafeteria: one was fitted with a playful 3D lid shaped like a basketball hoop (the 'nudge'), while the other had a standard flat lid with no special features.
Over a one-week period, the researcher recorded the number of plastic bottles correctly deposited in each bin by two groups: Undergraduates and Postgraduates. The observational data is shown in the table below.
| Undergraduates | Postgraduates | |
|---|---|---|
| Bin with basketball hoop lid | 35 | 42 |
| Bin with standard flat lid | 14 | 38 |
Outline two conclusions that can be obtained from the data collected in this study.
