A cognitive psychologist investigated the effects of dual-task interference on working memory. Group 1 (Single-task) was asked to memorise a list of 25 abstract nouns in silence. Group 2 (Dual-task) was asked to memorise the same list of 25 abstract nouns while tapping a continuous, irregular rhythm with their non-dominant hand. The number of words correctly recalled by each participant after a 10-minute delay was recorded. The data collected is presented in the table below.
