Many students study while listening to music. A cognitive psychologist investigated whether listening to instrumental music whilst reading a complex text affects comprehension. Six participants read the text with instrumental music in the background. A different group of six participants read the same text in silence. Afterwards, all participants completed a 25-point comprehension questionnaire. The data collected is presented in the table below.
