A cognitive psychologist wanted to investigate whether there was a relationship between salivary cortisol levels (a physiological marker of stress) and self-reported stress levels in corporate employees during peak working hours. Seven office worker volunteers were recruited from a local business park. Each participant provided a Saliva sample to determine their cortisol level (measured in micrograms per deciliter, μg/dL\mu\text{g/dL}μg/dL) and completed a validated daily stress questionnaire to score their subjective stress level out of 50.
The results of the stress questionnaire and the cortisol tests are shown in Table 1.
