Introduction and Aim

The classic study by Raine et al. (1997) investigated whether murderers who pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity (NGRI) showed evidence of brain dysfunction. Pleading NGRI is a legal defense arguing that a severe mental disorder at the time of the offense made the individual not fully responsible for their actions.
