Question 5

Three toddlers were dropped off at a new playgroup by their fathers. The children each reacted differently as their fathers departed. Leo became extremely distressed and clung to his father. Maya paid no attention and continued playing with the blocks. Sam looked slightly sad and whimpered but was easily distracted by the toys.

The children also reacted differently when a helper approached them. Leo was highly anxious and shrank away, Maya was completely unfazed, while Sam was initially cautious but soon accepted a toy from the helper.

Briefly outline the behaviour each toddler is likely to display when their father returns to collect them from the playgroup.
