Question 2

The study described below is an example of socially sensitive research.

Study of adolescent vaping habits

In a study of underage vaping and community recreational habits, researchers surveyed 120 adolescents aged 15 years. They then classified each adolescent according to their frequency of vaping. They concluded that 30 were 'chronic vapers', 50 were 'occasional vapers', and 40 were 'non-vapers'. The researchers found that the vast majority of 'chronic vapers' frequented the Oakwood Youth Centre, whereas most of the other two groups of adolescents spent their leisure time elsewhere.

Briefly explain how the researchers could have dealt with the issue of social sensitivity in this study.
