The study described below is an example of socially sensitive research.
In a study of underage gambling and community leisure habits, researchers surveyed 160 adolescents aged 14 years. They then classified each adolescent according to their frequency of placing bets. They concluded that 45 were 'habitual gamblers', 65 were 'recreational betters', and 50 were 'non-bettors'. The researchers found that the vast majority of 'habitual gamblers' frequented the Apex Amusement Arcade, whereas most of the other two groups of adolescents spent their leisure time elsewhere.
