An environmental psychologist wanted to investigate the food waste habits of suburban households. Fifteen families took part in the study. The researcher asked one adult from each family to keep a daily food waste log (a diary) for three weeks, recording the types and estimated quantities of food discarded. Following this, the researcher decided to conduct semi-structured interviews with some of these participants.
Explain why the data collected from the semi-structured interviews might have improved upon the data collected from the daily food waste logs.
