Scenario

An occupational health researcher conducted an experiment to investigate the impact of dynamic sit-stand desks on postural discomfort in administrative office workers. They recruited a sample of 30 office employees who completed two different workdays:

• Workday A: using a standing desk for 4 hours, then a traditional sitting desk for the rest of the day.
• Workday B: using a traditional sitting desk for the entire workday.

The order in which they completed the workdays was counterbalanced, and subjective postural discomfort was measured at the end of each day using a standardised 10-point self-report scale.
