Read the conversation below:

Elena and Marcus are discussing their colleagues, Priya and Thomas. Priya is highly empathetic and always comforting others in the office, whereas Thomas rarely shows emotion. Elena says, "Women are biologically wired to be nurturing and emotionally sensitive because of evolutionary adaptations and hormones like oxytocin. It is just in their DNA." Marcus disagrees, saying, "No, it is because from infancy, girls are socialised to be caring, given dolls to play with, and praised for showing feelings, while boys are taught to hide their emotions."

Explain what is meant by nature and nurture in relation to gender development.

Refer to the conversation above in your answer.
