Healthy Cooking Demonstration Week Scenario

At a local college, teachers participated in 'Healthy Cooking Demonstration Week' to encourage students to cook fresh, nutritious meals. The week involved daily live cooking sessions by staff in the main courtyard during lunch breaks.

Two of the teachers were talking at the end of the week.

Mr. Harrison said, "That was such a brilliant week! I felt so proud to win the 'Golden Apron' certificate in front of everyone and show how easy it is to whip up a stir-fry. My tutor group loved watching me cook, I really think it will inspire them to start cooking at home!"

Mrs. Davies replied, "It's alright for you, you're the popular Head of Year and great in front of a crowd. My students looked so uncomfortable when I burnt the garlic and set off the smoke alarm. I think I've put them off cooking permanently!"

Whether or not students learn to cook healthy meals could depend on mediational processes.

Using the scenario above, explain how mediational processes might be involved in the students learning (or failing to learn) to cook healthy meals.
