Question 2

Elena is describing a recent hiking trip to her colleague.

"I was walking along a quiet path when a huge stray dog jumped out of the bushes barking. Immediately, my chest felt like it was pounding, my breathing became very rapid, and my hands started sweating. I managed to climb up onto a nearby boulder, and the dog eventually ran off. Even after it left, I sat there shaking for about ten minutes before my breathing and heart rate slowed back down to normal."

Outline the role of adrenaline in the fight or flight response. Refer to Elena's experiences in your answer.
