Question 3

During a confrontation at a local petrol station, a customer named David witnessed a cashier being threatened with a large, unusual weapon (a meat cleaver). David was highly distressed and could only recall details of the cleaver when questioned by the police. However, Sarah, who was sitting in her car outside the petrol station and felt quite calm, was able to provide a highly detailed description of the perpetrator's clothing and facial features.

Discuss research into the effects of anxiety on the accuracy of eyewitness testimony. Refer to the behaviour of David and Sarah in your answer.
