Parents' Conversation at a Playgroup

Two parents, Julian and Clara, are chatting at an outdoor play area.

Julian: "When Leo was a newborn, I felt like my partner had a much closer connection to him. She spent all day bottle-feeding him, so he associated her face and voice with getting his milk. I felt a bit left out."

Clara: "I'm not so sure it's just about who feeds them. I believe infants are biologically programmed to form one primary, unique bond, usually with their mother. That single, special relationship acts as a blueprint for all of their future friendships and adult relationships."

Discuss the learning theory of attachment and Bowlby's monotropic theory of attachment. Refer to the conversation above in your answer.
