Question 15

Item A

Anorexia nervosa is a serious eating disorder characterized by an intense fear of gaining weight and a severely restricted food intake. It is relatively rare, affecting around 0.5% of young people in the country. Individuals with the disorder often have a severely distorted body image, viewing themselves as overweight when they are dangerously underweight, which prevents them from achieving a realistic self-concept and self-actualization. The condition causes severe personal distress and physical weakness, frequently leaving individuals unable to attend school regularly or maintain social relationships.

Referring to the description in Item A, outline three definitions of abnormality.
