A researcher placed an announcement in a corporate wellness newsletter asking for full-time office employees to participate in a lifestyle and productivity study.
Each employee was given a biometric activity band to wear during their working hours for a two-week period. Each evening, participants were instructed to open the companion app to view their 'active minutes' summary. The employees did not know that the activity data displayed on their app had been manipulated by the researcher. Over the 14 days of the study, each participant's app showed that they had failed to meet their daily active-minute goal on seven random days, and had successfully met or exceeded their goal on the remaining seven days.
Every evening, immediately after viewing their activity status, each employee completed a brief digital survey. One of the questions asked participants to rate their subjective fatigue levels on a scale of 1 (extremely energetic) to 10 (completely exhausted). Aside from checking the tracker, employees were asked to go about their normal daily routines.
Explain one strength of collecting quantitative data in this study.
